Are you a CHW in New Jersey who graduated from the Colette Lamothe-Galette Community Health Worker Institute (CLG-CHWI)? Do you have an interest in learning more about oral health?
If so, join the CLG-CHWI for their ADA Certified Oral Health Ambassador training. This is a virtual, hybrid format training with e-learning to be completed in advance of the live webinar session on Wednesday May 6, 2026 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
This is a free training for graduates of the Colette Lamothe-Galette Community Health Worker Institute. LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE! Register today!
Highlights:
An ADA Certified Oral Health Ambassador will gain practical knowledge to confidently guide conversations with patients and dispel common oral-health myths—such as the appropriate age for a child’s first dental visit. For example, through this training, CHWs are equipped to explain why an Age 1 dental visit is essential to establishing lifelong oral health for children, ensuring that pregnant patients understand the benefits early on.
The modules will also address the relationship between oral health and chronic conditions. CHWs learn not only why diseases like diabetes increase the risk for cavities and gum disease, but how to effectively communicate with diabetic patients who may be struggling with their blood sugar levels. After being connected to dental evaluation and treatment, many patients discover that addressing gum disease or an infected tooth can even help stabilize their A1c.
These and other positive results stem from empowering CHWs to educate patients, promote healthy behaviors, and understand the core principles of oral health, including its bidirectional connection to overall health. By reinforcing knowledge around access to care, special patient populations, and care coordination, Community Health Workers become vital bridges—linking patients to prevention, informed decision-making, and appropriate clinical treatment.
