If you are interested in becoming a Community Health Worker (CHW) in New Jersey, the Hub is a great source to further your professional development by providing opportunities and resources to make the process as successful as possible.

How to Become a CHW

  1. Register for Virtual Training Program with CLGI, organized by the NJDOH  

  2.  Attend 17-week course which consists of 144 hours classroom learning, 14 hours of Rutgers Project Echo Training and 240 hours of in person on the-job (OTJ) training 

The on-the-job training will be completed by a NJDOH Employer Partner site which will be assigned upon acceptance to the program.

 

CHWs can be recommended to the program and/or express interest by applying directly to the New Jersey Department of Health. Once the application is submitted and reviewed, the CHWs will go through an interview process to be considered for the program.

 

NJDOH will cover related classroom instruction costs for all participants accepted into the CLGI training program.
