This event provided valuable insights into the healthcare needs of rural communities in New Jersey as key issues like opioid addiction (including treatment options), maternal health, Medicaid renewal, caregiver challenges and behavioral health were discussed. Workforce recruitment and data on social determinants of health were also emphasized as essential in improving healthcare equity and access. Trip to the Blueberry capital of the state was also taken in to learn about health services provided to migrant workers by the South Jersey Family Medical Center.
We look forward to continuing the conversation on improving healthcare access and outcomes for rural populations in with our federal and state level partners.
